So long to a good friend. The final Champ Car race took place over the weekend in Long Beach. An impressive field of 20 for the event, and Will Power came out on top with a very strong race. Got to see an old Favorite in Jimmy Vasser race, and a new favorite in Nelson Phillipe. Over all a good race, with some good battles throughout the field. Graham Rahal comes up big in his first IRL race. After sitting out Homestead due to equipment shortages, Graham came back and looked strong after some early problems. Actually NHL and a lot of the Champ car teams looked good on the streets of St Pete. Jason and Jeff discuss the race, and talk about the good day for the Champ car or "Transition" teams. Jason and Jeff are back after a long break. We were hoping to have a 2007 review show, but given the recent news of Champ Car folding into the IRL, we talk about the merger. We share some of our thoughts as long time Champ Car fans and how we have reacted to the news. We talk about some of our theories, and our thoughts for what we think or hope the future will bring. To say that we are disappointed would be an understatement, and though both of us always wanted Reunification, but we both feel a bit let down on how all this had happened. A word of warning, some of the language used in the podcast is a bit rough, and we do hold some strong Champ Car views, and Anti IRL views, so please take note in case you might find offensive. Alas, the final Champ car race of the year happened at Mexico. Sebastien Bourdais won the race, and leaves the series on a high note after clinching the championship in Australia. The race was green for the most part, but a late yellow and Bourdais with limited push to pass made for a in interesting end to the race. Champ car also released their schedule for 2008 which marks the return the Laguna Seca and a new race in Spain, but also bids farewell to Las Vegas and San Jose street races. After a very long break Champ car is back with its annual race down under in Australia. Lots of driver changes in the weeks between races, and lots of other news coming out of the series. Oh within all that news, Sebastien Bourdais becomes the first person to win the Australia event two times, ever!!!! Sebastien also makes history in becoming the first driver to win the Champ car championship four consecutive years. Justin Wilson follows up his victory in the Netherlands with a solid second. Nelson Phillipe comes back to the series and has a good sixth place result after being off for a year. Jason and Jeff discuss the race and all the news happening lately. The very late podcast 18 is finally online. Sorry for the delay, busy schedules once again the culprit. Justin Wilson score is first victory of the season and puts himself into second place in the championship. Bruno comes close again only to be let down by a pit button, and Jan Heylen makes his way to the second step on the podium. Sebastien Bourdais does what he has to do to maintain his lead in the championship with a forgettable day on his part. Doornbos and Power have even more forgettable days and remove themselves from the championship hunt. Jason and Jeff discuss the race and some recent news on the dropped Phoenix race and changes for the 2008 schedule that brings back a storied champ car track to the schedule. Sebastien Bourdais has another great weekend and sets himself apart from the rest of the field. Even though not a lot of battling for the lean, there was plenty of racing throughout the field. Bruno Junqueira uses some pit strategy, luck and overall good racing to give Dale Coyne Racing a second place finish. Graham Rahal battles from deep in the filed for another Podium finish. Championship contenders Will Power, Robert Doornbos and Justin Wilson, have ok days, but not enough to keep them in touch with the championship. Jason and Jeff gives their review of Zolder. Jason and Jeff are back with their race review of Road America. Sorry for the delay, a busy schedule and some skype problems delayed us. Road America had another fantastic race, and even though there was not a lot of passing for the lead, there was plenty of battles throughout the field. Bourdais receives a great boost in his quest for a 4th championship as Power, Doornbos and Wilson had their struggles. Doornbos is the toast of the town after his win at Mont Tremblant, well Bourdais looks for some Cheese to go with his whine. The race started with a few problems for some of the front runners, but then settles into a fast pace. Midway through the race, rain came out, and provided a lot of excitement for Drivers and fans.
